Reporting to the Head, US Precision Medicine & Nurse Education, the Director, U.S. Oncology Nurse Education is accountable for leading the U.S. Oncology Nurse Education team to establish team priorities, meet success metrics, align key organizational stakeholders and deliver on approved strategic objectives.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide leadership to the Oncology Nurse Educator team to enable successful delivery of program objectives
  • Engage the team on Oncology Nurse Educator purpose
  • Define strategy to meet program objectives. Cross-functionally establish success metrics and ensure team clarity and accountability in meeting and/or exceeding stated objectives/metrics
  • Oversee recruiting, staffing, hiring, and training of Oncology Nurse Educators
  • Provide coaching and guidance to respective Oncology Nurse Educators to enable high team engagement and performance
  • Create a positive and engaging work environment that rewards accomplishments and encourages the advancement and retention of productive employees
  • Identify and remove operational barriers to team effectiveness and impact
  • Ensure Oncology Nurse Educator team works within all appropriate regulations, company guidelines and has right level of guidance, training and documentation to ensure compliance, including first line monitoring
  • Engage and align key organizational stakeholders on role of Oncology Nurse Educator in achieving respective franchise organizational priorities
  • Represent the Oncology Nurse Educator team to Franchise Leadership Team and champion opportunities for Oncology Nurse Educators to contribute towards PM&NE vision in achieving AstraZeneca Leadership
  • Engage with Franchise Marketing and Medical teams on how nurse education can contribute towards Brand Strategic Imperatives
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to develop innovative solutions to address genuine educational needs
  • Engage key customers and Key External Experts to continuously seek customer feedback on opportunities to positively impact patient health

  • Oncology RN experience
  • 10 years of Pharmaceutical / Medical industry experience including significant experience leading and motivating teams
  • Proven ability to motivate and lead teams to meet and/or exceed performance expectations
  • Proven ability to engage and collaborate with cross-functional leadership across Sales, Managed Markets, Brand and broader organization
  • Experience engaging Key Opinion Leaders and Account Leadership in healthcare organizations
  • Prior experience managing clinical professionals or hospital based individuals
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and persuade others
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Effective computer skills i.e. Microsoft office, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Organizational and ability to prioritize a must
  • Ability to travel overnight up to 50% of the time
  • High level of integrity and dependability

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Master's Degree in Science, Business and/or Public Health preferred
  • Registered nurse (RN) license, active license required
