Summary of the Group and Role

The Department of Antibody Discovery and Protein Engineering is seeking a talented and highly motivated Senior Scientist to build a next-generation discovery engine for oncology-based therapeutics. The successful candidate will be excited by research at the interface between technology and biology and will operate with a diverse group of scientists to actively drive technological innovations. The candidate will operate independently and in collaboration with a diverse group of scientists to identify targets with therapeutic potential. He/she will be a well-organized and a highly productive bench scientist that can design and execute experiments efficiently, as well as analyze, interpret and present data to multidisciplinary project teams.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Senior Scientist to implement our next-generation rapid B cell discovery platforms towards progressing pre-clinical programs. The successful candidate will also actively drive technological innovations to these platforms, adding to our team of multidisciplinary and passionate scientists excited by research at the interface between technology and Biology. He/she will be a well-organized and a highly productive bench scientist that can design and execute experiments efficiently, as well as analyze, interpret and present data to project teams.

  • Build antibody fragment libraries in display-based systems (such as phage or yeast-display)
  • Conduct selections for high-affinity antibodies binding to specific targets
  • Implement high-throughput solutions for antibody gene cloning, transfection and production
  • Design and implement screening assays for specificity using ELISA and/or FACS
  • Advance novel approaches to accelerate discovery campaigns or improve the resulting panels of leads

Education & Experience Requirements:

PhD degree with 0-2 years postdoctoral or industry experience, or Master's degree in Molecular Biology or other related fields with 3-5 years of relevant experience in industry (preferred) or academia.

Required Skills:
  • Strong background in molecular biology techniques with experience in cloning, sequencing, PCR and RT-PCR
  • Experience with display-based antibody discovery techniques, such as phage-display or yeast-display, including expression and screening of IgG candidates
  • Ability to conceive and design experiments, develop assays, optimize protocols, and interpret experimental results
  • The ability to learn and embrace new technologies quickly, work independently on multiple projects simultaneously and communicate well with the team

Desired Skills:
  • Comfortable with using automation, including generating or editing automation scripts, for high-throughput mammalian cell culture and antibody screening
  • Experience with next-generation sequencing, flow-cytometry and FACS
  • Skilled with computer programming languages, particularly as used to analyze large datasets
